When you live in a big city like Tokyo, subways are just a part of life. You’re cramped and uncomfortable, but so is everyone else. Quickly you learn to surrender to the jostling crowd; you relax, breathe, and go with the flow, knowing full well that it’ll all be over shortly. Photographer Michael Wolf, with his series entitled “Tokyo Compression”, captures these inbetween moments. Wolf has managed to capture the moment of surrender, when the subjects allowed themselves to let go of their discomfort and be swept away with the rushing current. There is a rhythm to life in a big city, and Wolf’s subjects are just bobbing their heads to the beat.
